There were 240 questions out of which there were 120 technical and 120 Aptitude & General English questions.
Negative Marking in the bhel test is 1/5th

Technical Questions:
30 questions mechanical related
12 from Power systems – a good book is CL Wadhwa
20 – 25 questions from Galgotia objective questions bank
The important topics are Power systems, control systems, machines, microprocessors, power electronics, measurements, etc.

BHEL Aptitude Questions Section:
English multiple choice questions like Finding errors, synonyms, antonyms, passages,etc.
Aptitude ones as in other papers.. just common and quite easy ones..

The time allowed for the test is 150 minutes. You have to take care about time management.
