NTPC – National Thermal Power corporation operates and build turnkey power plants in India and worldwide (middle east)

I would like to share the NTPC exam for engineers on 22nd april 2007 at the anna adarsh college for instrumentation b.tech branch. Here is the syllabus and the paper pattern.

There were 170 questions as in other ntpc test papers. 120 were Technical engineering subject related questions and remaining 50 were Aptitude type. Aptitude ones were easy ofcourse. The time was 2 hours total.

The questions and topics for the ntpc written technical paper:

Questions from microprocessor 8085, interupts (e.g given some interrupts and tell which interrupt has highest priority), address line, architecture.
(Linear) Control systems: Routh criteria, all basics
Op amp, amplifiers, inverting amplifiers
Hexa decimal conversion, BCD conversion questions
Multivibrators, about bistable multivibrator, Amplitude modulation (ACS), What do we measure with Richter scale?
We measure earthquakes intensity with Richter scale.
Bio gas
Instrumentation: LVDT, strain gauge, PI controllers, feed forward controllers, bellows, match the following questions like
eg.

seeback effect-?
piezo electric effect-?
diifferent types of control valves, more questions frm PID controllers.
In dp type instrument, flow is proportional to what?
Signal conditioning, coriolis flow meter, problems based on accuracy

Go through all the previous NTPC Papers – written objective / multiple choice ones, etc.

Now the NTPC Aptitude Questions Part:

Problems from ratio, profit loss, volumes, pipes and cisterns etc.
Word analogies, given a paragraph and you have to answer questions, fill in the blanks with most suitable sentence, antonyms,synonyms, etc. in the english language questions part. Goodluck for your ntpc exam!
