ZTE India is a subsidiary of the chinese parent ZTE corporation which specialises in various types of telecom equipment, infrastructure services and products.

China’s No. 2 telecom equipment maker, ZTE Corporation started production at a factory in India in 2005 after it got a major contract in India.
The factory is located in the northern part of indian state of haryana near gurgaon. The manufacturing facility in India occupies 4000 square metres of space. It has a capacity to build equipment to handle up to 3 million lines of traffic based on the CDMA standard. So its building mainly CDMA equipement as per our information.
It was announced that the facility will also have the capability to make GSM standard based equipment later as well as DSL broadband equipment and mobile phone handsets.
In December 2004, ZTE Telecom corp had won a contract worth US$22 million to supply broadband equipment to privately-owned Indian telecom and media firm Atlas Interactive India Ltd. ZTE India said that the equipment supplied under the deal would be used for broadband service around India’s capital, New Delhi.
ZTE Is based in the Chinese Shenzen SEZ and its shares are listed on Shenzen and hong kong exchanges. Its chinese rival huawei technologies also plans major activity in India and eyes a major market here. It is also hiring people in India for its operations. ZTE is eyeing worldwide 3G telecom infrastructure and systems markets worldwide now.
