Here is the placement exam procedure:
There were three rounds in the hcl test:
Written Test
Technical Interview
HR Interview
First there was a written round with two papers
· Aptitude Test
· Technical Test
The aptitude round consisted of 45 questions each of 1 mark. There was no negative marking. The time limit was 60 minutes. There were questions on logical reasoning, data interpretation and maths.
The technical test question papers consists of 30 minutes and 25 questions of 1 mark each. The test topics were concepts of c/c++ computer programming languages, computer networks, operating systems, DBMS and data structures. There were c program output questions based on macros, bit wise operators, pointers and manipulators.
Technical Interview Round: In the hcl tech interview, the panel person asked about the 4th semester project. Then he asked to write a program on palindrome. I could not write the program but I explained him the whole concept. Other c questions they were asking other candidates were from programs for sorting, searching, questions on output, errors, constructors destructors polymorphism, inheritance and concepts of OOP.
Next was the HR Interview round for those who cleared the tech part. There were two persons in the interviewer panel. The sample questions were about the family background, areas of interest, future plans, top IT companies, concepts of OOP, classes, hobbies, etc
