Matches, matchbooks, here they are , the entire collection. There are some old ones and some new ones. Most of them have matches in them and most of them are a little bit tattered. As I handle them I read the messages on the covers. Very interesting material, these old matchbooks used to serve a purpose and now I wonder as I see them, how many have quit smoking but are still saving their matchbooks?
Do you have a collection of old matchbooks that you do not know what to do with? Well here is what not to do. DO not throw any of them into the garbage cans. Keep them away from that place. First that is a fire hazard to throw them in garbage cans when you have so many of them. Reading the covers, does that bring any memories back? Well then, separate the ordinary matchbooks from the ones that are memorable, unique, classic and possibly even antique. Wow, I see you sitting there grinning, at the thought of antigue matchbooks.
Here is the matchbook project:
- Take the matchbooks, covers of matchbooks and gather them in one place.
- Find an old scrapbook and begin putting some materials on those pages.
- Cut up some of the matchbook covers. Cut some pictures out of them and cut some words out of them.
- Use a manicure scissors or a special craft scissors to do this part of the craft).
- Using a gluestick or special glue for scrapbooks, glue your favorites to the scrapbook pages.
- Use a marker or some other writing instrument to make notes on the pages of the scrapbooks.
- Put some pictures in between the matchbook covers.
There you go, you have a great matchbook project to save for many, many years. I created this article on May 24, 2008.
