In the age of globalised world, every company has spread its branches around the world and needs well qualified people to take care of the company and its affairs. Most of the companies have started to create teams which takes care of themselves and in order to run the organizations they need specialized positions and one of the most important positions that has been created in this modern business approach is the creation of the post of project managers. Most of the project mangers of the past weren’t certified but now certification courses such as Project Management Professional PMP have been created. It is a well recognized certification for project managers.
One needs to have some amount of previous work experience as a project manager to be able to take up this examination. The number of hours that a person should have worked as a project manager to become eligible to attend this exam differs greatly based on the educational qualification of the person. If the person has only high school diploma then he needs to have about 7500 hours of experience as a project manager and if he has a bachelor degree holder then he should have about 3500 hours of work experience. The exams has about 200 questions in total and of them about 25 questions are preset and would be mingled with the other questions. But the person would be evaluated based on the other 175 questions.
The duration of the exam is about 4 hours. One has to score between 61 to 75% to pass the exam and to get the certificate. The questions would require the person to use a lot of his practical skills and would put the person through a vigorous testing of his knowledge. The exam would allow 15 minutes of tutorial time, in which a person can review his memory and formulas and this 15 minutes aren’t included in the 4 hours provided for examination.
