You Are Here: Home » Computers » How to delete auto show entries in explorer search box

For Windows XP:

If you have set your home page to be Google, then you may see that whenever you type an alphabet in the search box, all entries starting from that alphabet show up.

It seriously compromises your privacy if there are other people using your computer or if you are using someone else’s computer. The passwords also show up automatically. Read on to learn how to delete / remove those passwords or auto usernames from showing up on forms on websites.

You can delete those entries / auto shown suggestions in the scroll down list in the internet explorer search box in Windows XP.

  • Click The Tools Option in the top menu in Internet Explorer
  • Then click Internet Options under the Internet Explorer Tools option.
  • Then click the Content Tab.
  • In the personal information, click the “Auto Complete” Button.
  • Then clicking “clear forms” will clear all those auto suggestion links / search or keyword terms in forms on websites or on the google or yahoo search box which used to automatically show up. These will not show up now. Check out on Google search box and you will not see any suggestions or auto complete entries or text there.

You can turn on or off the option of auto complete as in the following post.
