You may want to have your own small picture or any other custom made picture as an icon of My Computer which you may also have renamed to your name. You can make your own icons in windows xp easily. You can build your icons and start out just with any file you have. Or you can use a free image available on the internet. Here is the tutorial for making your icons in Windows xp:
First get a picture or make your own.
Click Start, then Programs, then click accessories and go to paint.
On the image menu at the top, click Attributes.
Set 32 for both the Width and Height of the picture (type it). The unit should be Pixels.
This will make a 32*32 pixel square image which is the size of the icon.
Then you can edit your image. You can shrink, or do anything just ensure the size is 32 by 32 – the size of the icon file .ico
When you are done making your picture, click save as and save it as a “.ico” file
For example Yourname.ico
Now See the tutorial to change the icons of folders or shortcuts.
Right click on the shortcut, go to the Shortcut tab and at the bottom, Click Change Icon then click browse.
Browse for the yourname.ico file and press ok.
That is how you can have any picture as the picture of your shortcut icon or folder icon.
