Normally when you are trying to view something on a shared computer in your hostel or corporate network. When you connect to another shared computer in Windows Xp, a check starts for the Scheduled tasks on that computer. Its a long task and its feels bad to wait even for 30 seconds.
You can easily disable that Scheduled Tasks check on that computer using this windows registry trick / hack.
TO disable the scheduled task on the other computer, do the following
Click start, then select run.
Type regedit and press enter.
The go HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace
in the right hand panel of the registry window. When you double click Namespace, find this key below: {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}
Just delete this key. After that, close the registry and restart your windows.
Now if you continue using or viewing something on the other shared computer, the windows will never check for scheduled tasks.
Do remember to back up your registry to prevent any errors or mistake from damaging your windows. See the registry back tutorial for windows xp here.
