There are many PHp directory scripts available in the market for web directories.

According to my experience if you want to earn more money from your web directory, you must have a big description of each site along with the keywords for that site. Most of the traffic to the web directories comes from the google search so if there is keyword rich description for the listings then there are more chances of your site appearing in the search results.

I have personally used this one for a past web directory project. I can say that its good and has an easy to use interface. Its really cool, has paid and featured listings option, easy payment processing, etc. This script can also be used for building a videos directory where embed codes of videos are added and description is added. You can do this from the admin.

Also there is helpful support from the site’s forums where webmasters are willing to answer questions. There are third party developers for phpmydirectory so you can find templates and more stuff. See the site for more information.

Power Seek is a more advanced solution than the Turbo seek. In power seek, there are seo friendly urls, banner rotation script, PPC pay per click listings which allow your site to become a search engine,etc. And there are powerful RSS feeds and category management options in the solution. And there are various plugins available. Power Seek SQL’s price is $339 USD and Turbo Seek’s price is  $149 USD. So its not cheap.
